Poker Strategy Tactics

Learn How to Play Poker

Welcome to the world of poker. My name is Mike Goldmine, and I'm the author of Poker Strategy Tactics. I'll try to help you to become a better poker player, and I'm going to do this by writing about poker strategy, tactics, theory and mathematics. There's a lot of poker information on this website, and even more in future.

Links on the left side of this page will help you to get started pretty well. You'll learn to play poker by its rules, and this is actually very important for a new player. Some start playing for real money without bothering to check if they really know the rules. Don't let your first mistake in a poker game to be an easy one.

Learn to play poker. Two different concepts, and this one means actually playing winning poker. I think only winning poker players have really learned how to play poker. You'll find all the information you need about this subject on the left side of this page. A few words though, that I think you should be aware of.

I want you to understand the difference between poker strategy and poker tactics. Imagine strategy as your overall game plan and tactics as its pieces. Kind of like a puzzle. The more you know about its pieces and the whole picture, the faster you're done with the puzzle.

Three qualities are very important in order to play successful, winning poker: The ability to maintain determination, concentration and discipline. Natural talent will, of course, always be a positive thing, but I would definitely rank these qualities above others. And while we're on the subject, poker mathematics is an important part of mastering poker games, however, this is a people vs. people game so you definitely don't have to be a mathematical genius in order to win.

No Limit Texas Holdem strategy articles, yes, only this one game so far. Simple reason, too: until I learn to play other poker games professionally (means winning on higher stakes) I'm not going to write about them. I play Pot Limit Omaha on high stakes, too, but haven't decided to write about it yet. I will in future, though.

Poker Strategy Tactics was and is being made for aspiring poker players who are ready to work for getting better at poker. This website isn't a "pretty" one, but rather focused on content. What's your goal; to learn how to play poker or to see how good looking this website is? If it's the first one, welcome and good luck!
