Razz Poker

Razz Rules

Razz poker is basically a version of "low" version of Seven Card Stud. Therefore if you know how to play 7 card stud, it's quite easy to to learn how to play Razz, too.

Razz poker rules differ in two significant ways, though. Lowest hand wins, and player with the highest card starts betting. This isn't a community card game, so you'll only receive cards for yourself. You make the best 5 card combination, and again, in Razz best means the lowest hand possible. This means 'the nuts', in other words the best hand possible in Razz is A2345 (Ace is the lowest card), also known as "the wheel".

Remember, Razz is not a hi/lo poker game - only the low hand counts.

How to Play Razz

Game starts with players posting antes. All players get dealt 3 cards, two of them face-down and one of them face-up (all players can see the face-up card). Player with the highest face-up card starts by making a "bring-in", which is either half of the small blind or full small blind (player can choose). If you're playing a $5/$10 game, then he could either bring-in $2,5 or $5.

Note: when determining who'll make the bring-in, there is a rank for suits, too. If two or more players have the same highest card, rank for suits goes in following way: Spades, Hearts, Diamonds, Clubs. Basically, if you've got a spade and your opponent would have a heart, then you're the one who makes the bring-in.

After players have been dealt first 3 cards and the bring-in has been made, there'll be a betting round. There's a maximum of 3 raises (meaning 4 bets per player). After the first betting round, fourth card will be dealt. After this, second betting round.

Fifth card, also called 'Fifth Street' is dealt, and there'll be a betting round. Previously, you could only make a small blind sized bet. From now on, you can bet (and raise) the amount of a big blind. Sixth card is dealt, there's a betting round. After players are done with the betting round, seventh card is dealt, which is also the last card. The seventh card will be dealt face-down. This means there are 3 cards face-down (first two and seventh) and 4 cards face-up.

Razz rules are quite simple to learn. If you're not going to play Razz games, it's worth to learn the game in order to play HORSE Poker.
