Seven Card Stud is a lot different from more popular Hold'em games. In this game, there are no community cards - all cards are "yours" and only you can see three of them, while everyone can see four of them. I've got least experience on this game and you won't find any Seven Card Stud poker strategy articles on this website, but here are the rules.
Seven Card Stud Poker Rules
The winner hand in Seven Card Stud poker games is decided the same way as in other poker games, check out this page for poker hands rankings. There can be 2-8 players participating in one game. You'll naturally have to use only your own cards to make the best possible five card combination.
Before the game starts, every player will place their own antes. Then the game starts. Before the first betting round, every player will receive 3 cards - two of them face-down and one of them face-up. The player who's got the lowest card makes a "bring-in" (if the game is $3/$6 he puts $1,5 to the pot) which is half of the low bet. In the case of two lowest cards with same ranks, the player closer to the dealer's left side will post the bring-in. Posting the bring-in won't be a waste of time though, as it counts as a bet and you don't have to post any more bets during this betting round unless someone raises.
Like always in Limit games, you can only bet the size of low limit bet in the first 2 rounds, and then the size of a big blind in the rest of the rounds. There are five betting rounds in total, and there can be 3 raises per betting round.
3rd Round - Third Street
After paying ante, the Dealer deals every player 3 cards - first two of those cards are dealt face-down and one face-up. The player with the lowest cards pays bring-in which means half of the low limit bet size. If the player chooses to raise instead of bringing in, he pays the whole low limit bet size.
4th Round - Fourth Street
From this moment there’ll be one card dealt and a betting round. So it’s time for the Dealer to deal the fourth card (face-up). This time the player whose two (face-up) cards are the highest is the first one to act. If a player’s got a pair face-up, he may bet the high limit bet size instead of low limit bet size.
5th Round - Fifth Street
Fifth card is dealt face up again and the highest hand bets first again. This time around bets must be the size of a high limit bet.
6th Round - Sixth Street
This round is dealt the same way as Fifth round - a bet and a raise size is a high limit bet.
7th Round - Seventh Street
Seventh card is dealt face down (this is also the last card). So there are 3 cards in Seven Card Stud that other players can’t see. Everyone’s bet size is still the high limit bet. If all 8 players are still in the pot, there won’t be enough cards to deal to everyone so the Dealer deals one community card to the table and every player can use that to create the best five card combination possible. There’s now a showdown which determines who’s the winner.
